Your Hot Takes Are Way Out of Touch With Reality
2024 has proven one thing so far and it's the fact there are people who believe their hot take about anything is based in reality when it's not.
This morning, I had the bright idea to log onto Post.news in order to check out my stats for an article I recently wrote. Unfortunately, this is what I saw on the homepage that almost made me delete the app:
If you noticed the red x on the screenshot and concluded that I drew it, then you are correct.
Why did I do this? Because it’s one of the dumbest headlines I’ve ever seen and that’s saying something if you’ve read headlines from CNN, MSNBC, or other media outlets that make truly idiotic claims such as “Trump’s trials are in danger of not happening” or “Democrats will lose the 2024 election because of x, y, and z reasons!”
The problem is that these takes and any other ones that they often spew out for clicks, ratings, or views are not based in reality. In fact, the former has already been refuted by the reveal of Trump’s March criminal trial date, which is scheduled for the 25th. And the latter has been refuted by the victories in not only NY-03 (winner: Tom Suozzi) but also the ones that occurred in states throughout 2023. At this point, you would have to be the most delusional person or media outlet on Earth to argue against these evidence-based facts.
This statement absolutely applies to the author of the aforementioned Post.news article in which they bash AG Merrick Garland for some emotionally-charged reason. If I had to hazard a guess, it’s because Trump isn’t in prison yet and they “want him to go there now” when that’s not how the court system works.
However, media outlets dishing out reality-dismissing narratives isn’t the only problem here.
You now have regular people providing equally mind-bobbling hot takes on games such as this year’s Superbowl. An example comes from this guy, who believes Patrick Mahomes “made a deal with Satan” or that the game itself was “scripted:”
This is not AI generated. This is a real screenshot I captured on the day after the Superbowl wrapped up.
Sure, you can claim that this guy is “joking” but 99.99% of the time, they’re not. Like the GOP/Magapublican Party, they truly believe in the illogical garbage that buzzes around in their heads and nosedives onto Twitter as a tweet. Here’s one of many examples of a Congresswoman proving this:
Mind you, this comes from the same woman who stalked victims of gun violence, harassed Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and requested a pardon after meeting with ex-President Donald Trump because she most likely knew that trying to overturn the 2020 Presidential Election is a crime that comes with a heaping helping of a prison sentence so she can miss me with the “mental illness on full display” comment since she has no room to talk.
I could go on and on here but my overall point is that this whole “I gotta provide a hot take that’s not based in reality” angle needs to stop. It doesn’t help anyone’s cause. It doesn’t clear your debts. And it certainly won’t persuade people that you’re a reliable source of information. Instead, it’ll convince them to disregard what you’re saying because it’s so ridiculous that it’s clear there’s something seriously wrong with you.
That’s it for now. See ya next time!
